Ventolin is the popular brand of the drug salbutamol, a medication used to provide temporary relief of asthma symptoms.
What is Ventolin
Ventolin Evohaler contains a medicine called salbutamol. This belongs to a group of medicines called fast acting bronchodilators. They work by:
Ventolin Evohaler is used to treat breathing problems in people with asthma and similar conditions. This includes relieving and preventing asthma brought on by exercise or other “triggers”. These are things, which bring on asthma symptoms in some people. Common triggers include house dust, pollen, cats, dogs and cigarette smoke.
Ventolin should not be used primarily to control your asthma symptoms, particularly if you require it regularly (more than three times a week).
How to use
In order to get the best out of your inhaler, it is very important that it is used correctly with the proper technique. You can improve the effectiveness of the inhaler by using a spacer device, which allows the particles of the drug to expand in a chamber, before you breath in allowing for more of the drug to be deposited into the lungs where it can have affect.

The maximum dose is 8 puffs in a 24 hour period. It is important you separate each puff by around 30-60 seconds. If you require your inhaler more than this, it is important you see your regular doctor as soon as possible, as this may indicate worsening of your asthma and the need for changing of your current asthma treatment regime.
