Erectile Dysfunction (ED) Treatment Online and Differences

If you’re experiencing erection problems your certainly not alone. It is estimated that 1 in 10 men experience issues related to sex, such as premature ejaculation or erectile dysfunction (ED). Most men over the age of 40 will experience some sort of sexual dysfunction and require ed treatment.

Erectile dysfunction is defined as the inability to initiate or maintain an erection that allows for satisfactory penetrative sexual intercourse. Its causes can be both physical and psychological, which may result in ed being transient or more long term. Thankfully, there are many safe and effective ed medications available that can be purchased online allowing easier access to ed pills.

Physical causes may include heart disease, diabetes and hypertension (raised blood pressure).

Psychological causes may include depression, anxiety about normal life stresses such as money, work and relationships.

Intake of alcohol, smoking, illicit drugs as well as some prescription medications can also have side effects resulting in erections problems needing treatment temporarily with ed treatment.

Fortunately, there are many effective ed treatments available that help you initiate and maintain a good enough erection for penetrative sex. The most popular and well known of these ed treatments is the pill Viagra, that was introduced in 1998. Other ed tablets such as Vardenafil (Levitra) and Tadalafil (Cialis) soon followed.

We now also have second generation ed treatments such as Avanafil (Spedra), that promise to work just as well as the previous generation ED pills but with less side effects.

Whilst there are many erectile dysfunction tablets to choose from, there are not many differences to consider when choosing an ED treatment. All ED tablets have the same mechanism of action, to promote blood flow to the penis. ED pills do this by causing dilation of small blood vessel found in the penis, resulting in improved blood flow and stronger erections. Whilst erectile dysfunction medications work in the same way, there are small differences between ed treatments that may impact your decision as to which ed pill is best for your situation

Which erectile dysfunction (ED) tablet should I go for?

Sildenafil (the drug contained in Viagra) was the first erectile dysfunction pill and treatment on the market and rose to popularity, accounting for 92% of sales across the globe. With the introduction of similar ed treatments, it lost its dominance in the market to other ed pills however remains the most popular erectile dysfunction treatment today. With Pfizer (the company behind the ed tablet Viagra) losing its patent, generic drug manufacturers were able to produce Sildenafil at lower costs, making it more affordable and leading to more people trialling ed treatment. Having been around the longest, and exhibiting a good safety record, sildenafil is considered the first line ed treatment. Its effects can last a respectable 3-5 hours, which makes it sufficient for most men. Side effects, as with all the ED pills may include:

·       Headaches

·       Nasal congestion

·       Flushing of the skin

·       Heartburn

These are usually mild and can last around 4-5 hours. Users may find the side effects of ed tablets become less troublesome, the more they use the chosen ed treatment. Sildenafil comes in a range of strengths starting at 25mg and going up to 100mg tablets. The usual starting dose for sildenafil tablets is 50mg, and depending on the effect and if any side effects are experienced, users may wish to move up or down respectively or consider alternative ed pills.

Tadalafil (the drug contained in Cialis) is considered more longer acting of all ed pills available, with a half life of around 17.5 hours and can keep working for up to 36 hours. This makes it the clear winner when it comes to duration of action, of all the ed treatments available today. It is particularly appealing for individuals who require coverage over a longer period such as the whole weekend. Cialis is also available as a generic called tadalafil (the active ingredient), making it a more affordable ed tablet. It is available as a low dose option of 5mg, that is taken daily, providing continuous support when you need it. If requiring ed treatment on a when required basis, the normal starting dose is 10mg, that should be taken around 60 minutes before sexual activity with a 20mg dose also available for those who do not respond to the 10mg tablet. It is worth baring in mind that all ED treatments can require you to take a few doses before they start to take effect. You should see maximum benefit after taking erectile dysfunction medication for the 3rd or 4th time.

Vardenafil (the drug contained in Levitra) was next ed treatment to come on the market, providing longer lasting effects than sildenafil, but less than that of tadalafil. After ingestion, the effects of Vardenafil can last between 5-8 hours, after which it slowly diminishes. The ed tablet is available in 4 strengths, 2.5mg,5mg,10mg and 20mg. The recommended starting dose is 10mg taken 60 minutes prior to sexual intercourse. Vardenafil makes an ideal ed treatment choice, for those requiring an ed pill that provides longer coverage than sildenafil, but less than that of the long acting ed treatment, tadalafil.

Avanafil (the drug contained in Spedra) is the newest of the ED treatments approved in 2012. It is claimed to produce less side effects than other ed pills, and have a quicker onset of action, potentially working within 15 minutes. This makes it a particularly useful ed treatment for unexpected encounters and for those requiring an ed pill with a quick onset. Its duration of action is similar to that of the ed tablet Vardenafil, therefore sitting in between ed treatments such as sildenafil and tadalfil. Like the other ed treatments mentioned above, Avanafil (Spedra) also comes in a range of doses, 50mg, 100mg and 200mg. The starting recommended dose is 100mg, taken at least 15 minutes before sexual intercourse.

Which is the best ED pill then?

The best ED treatment really depends on what you expect from it. All the ed pills on offer are effective and have shown to have similar safety profiles. They only difference between ed treatments as mentioned above, is the onset of the ed tablet and its duration of action. If it is the first time you are trying ed medication, we would advise to start off with Sildenafil, being the most widely used treatment available, and therefore shown to have a good safety track record. You can also buy sildenafil relatively cheap.
